Overview
Sweco, a company responsible for creating efficient urban infrastructure management systems, wanted to assist the work of engineers responsible for analyzing pipeline damages. The current information gathering process was complex and time-consuming. The company was seeking a way to better scale the entire process to maximize automation as much as possible using AI algorithms.

Target and challenge
Engineers, who work on collecting information, use robots that record sections of the pipe. Each such section was later analyzed by a human for various damages. The process needed to be facilitated to the extent that the human factor was minimized in the analysis of recordings. There was no one system or application that allowed for faster work. To change this, a project process was outlined with specific tasks that should be performed.
In order to fully understand the issue, the entire process was mapped out with all stakeholders.
In the ideation phase, a prototype of the entire application was tested with all users. Based on this, corrections were made and UX tests were carried out again.
The final design process ended with the creation of the entire user journey.
Solution
Creation of an application that will eventually function in the sweco ecosystem as an external module. Maximally simple to use so that the entry threshold for engineers is as simple as possible. A mobile-friendly application that allows for generating reports in the field. In addition, a uniform design system was created so that Sweco could develop subsequent modules based on it in future stages."
Results
Already in the testing phase, it turned out that users understand the idea and positively perceive the new changes. The process, which took them many steps and several hours of work, was shortened to selecting a file and waiting for analysis. As a result, the same engineers could now analyze more pipeline sections, which resulted in efficient time management.
